BLACKPINK has been the first K-pop group to reach 2 billion
With their 2018 single “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” BLACKPINK has been the first K-pop group to reach 2 billion YouTube views on a music video (MV).

BLACKPINK became the first K-pop group in history to accomplish this record on a single music video when the group’s label, YG Entertainment, formally announced on Twitter earlier today (January 4) that the music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has reached the 2 billion mark on YouTube.
At the time of publication, the music video for singer Psy’s viral 2012 hit “Gangnam Style,” which has received 4.6 billion views to date, is barely ahead of BLACKPINK in terms of popularity. Another BLACKPINK video, the official “Kill This Love” music video, is in second position behind the “DDU-DU DDU-DU” music video with 1.7 billion views and counting.
The music video for Psy’s “Gangnam Style” became the first YouTube video in platform history to surpass one billion views, launching the Billion Views Club. Along with “Kill This Love” and ” DDU-DU DDU-DU”, the music video for “How You Like That” is also included in the BVC and has received 1.1 billion views as of this writing. BTS, a fellow K-pop group, has contributed a number of videos to the club, including the music videos for “DNA,” “Boy With Luv,” “Dynamite,” and other songs.

The four-debut piece’s mini-album, “Square Up,” featured the lead track, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” which was released in June 2018. All four of the song’s B-sides—”Forever Young,” “Really,” and “See U Later”—were co-written and produced by Teddy, an internal YG Entertainment producer.
BLACKPINK released their second studio album, “Born Pink,” in September 2022. It was their first release as a group in two years and featured the title tune, “Shut Down.” The pre-release single “Pink Venom” from the album was released in August. The album also has the song “Ready For Love,” which debuted at a virtual performance put on in association with PUBG Mobile.
